Finally, we were back in the classroom today! It was a productive day, too. In French, we introduced our current reading strategy, synthesis, using a text about "Le radeaux en eau vive" (whitewater rafting). Students got to take the syntehsis skills they learned in English and practice them in French. We also had a mini-lesson on how to create interesting characters, and then spent some time writing our children's stories. In language, we took our first steps on independent synthesis, by coming up with our own questions and applying them to our independent reading books. After all, when we're reading on our own, a teacher won't be telling us what to look for - we'll have to do it ourselves! In math we had a practice test for our unit test on rates and ratios. We'll be doing corrections for it Monday. Finally, we enjoyed our Friday free time in the warm sunshine!
This weekend:
-The math test has been postponed until Tuesday. Here are some handy resources you can use to help your child prepare:
Writing ratios
Equivalent ratios
Finding unit rates
Unit rate word problems
Also, remember to bring a calculator on Tuesday. It'll come in very handy!
Have a great weekend!
