lundi le 2 decembre

We got into the fourth month of the school year today, and it was a busy one! With only thirteen school days left after today, we have much to accomplish. Today in French, we introduced our new grammar focus - possessive pronouns. In French, there are different ways to say "my", "your" and "his/her", depending on whether we're talking about a masculine, feminine, or plural object. For example, you'd say "Mon crayon" (my pencil), "Ma pupitre" (my desk), and "Mes amis" (my friends), depending on the gender and number of the object. At the same time, we introduced a new project we're going to be working on. Students have been doing scripted plays in French; now they're going to be writing their own! In groups, they will be creating original plays with a winter theme to present to the class. Students need to have five lines for each character (and no, "Bonjour" doesn't count as a line!), and use winter vocabulary in their play. We'll be working on this lots in class. In language, we started our final recounts. These will be due Monday, and are limited to three body paragraphs, to make sure that students choose only the most important details to include. In math, we continued to work on adding and subtracting decimals, with a focus on following the processes correctly. We've got the problem solving side down; now we just need to make sure we do it correctly every time!

Tonight's homework is:
-Final recounts are due Monday. We will have class time to work on them, but working outside of school is permitted as well.
-The dictee on possessive pronouns is on Friday.
-The math sheet given today needs to be finished by tomorrow.
-Christmas Cheer is underway! If you have any non-perishable food items or any toys you'd like to donate to families in need in our community, please bring them in to school. It makes a big difference to those in need!

Merci, et bonsoir!
