lundi le 9 septembre

Joyeux lundi! Welcome back for our second week!

Apologies for the lack of updates Friday. It seems that computers in general have not gotten along with me recently!

In French, we now have two things on the go. The first is our first dictée of the year! This is a weekly spelling and vocabulary quiz. Students have received lists of words they will have to know. They will be responsible for labelling a series of pictures with the correct French word, spelled correctly. The dictée will be on Friday, Sept. 13th.

The second project we're working on is a short conversational dialogue between partners. Students will have to present a dialogue to the class in pairs. They will be evaluated based on:
-Presenting enthusiastically and with emotion.
-Using correct pronounciation (we have reviewed this in class and will do so throughout the week).
-Looking at each other and the audience.
-Being a respectful audience.

Students will present their dialogues on Monday, Sept. 16th.

In class today, we started a few new things. We introduced reading response letters as a way to communicate about our reading with the teacher. We also examined different types of math questions, learned/reviewed the names of Canada's provinces and territories in French, and learned how to spell "supercalifragilisticespialidocious" in French!

Homework for tonight is as follows:

-The map of Canada we started in Études Sociales is due tomorrow. (It will be checked for completion but not marked). Students need to colour the map and label the provinces. If they need a resource to help them with this, I recommend http://mapsof.net/map/canada-provinces-french#.Ui4ct9KG28A
-Tomorrow we are going to the library and to the gym. Please make sure your child brings their library book and gym clothes (shorts, closed-toed shoes, and a shirt that cam be exercised in).
-Our dictée is Friday - please be sure to review the words nightly.
-Dialogue presentations are Monday, so be sure to spend some time practicing these.
-Reading response letters are due Wednesday.

And that's all! Bonsoir, et à demain!
